So do you reply over the quote or under?

Under the quote, always.

I always reply over the quote. Under would probably make more sense, because it's in chronological order that way. Over makes a lot of sense also, because the other person already knows what the previous stuff was.

over for the same reason......then again my pages here all go from the bottom up

I always quote under, unless the person I converse with goes over. Then I'll swing it that way.

I think I am an over guy by default myself--sometimes I get confused and they are some over, some under.

Under...:D

Always under in my posts (unless quote makes part of my text, like in the example that follows), because

Under would probably make more sense, because it's in chronological order that way.

but lately tend to "over" in PMs, because

Over makes a lot of sense also, because the other person already knows what the previous stuff was

No surprise here.

I prefer to write it under. I always get confused when it is over.

I like to be on bottom!

I always go under, doesn't make sense otherwise. You don't write from bottom to top, you don't read from bottom to top. The whole flow of the conversation works better when each reply is underneath the last one.
Death to ontop-pm'ers!

I like to mix things up, sometimes I go over, sometimes under..usually in the same conversation!

Normally I reply under, but if the other person goes over I go that way too.

I'm the same, its seems confusing (and a bit painful) if you are under and the other person is over :beat:

I suppose it might work if none of us had any arms or legs, but that's not what we got.

Over. Always.

I dunno, I switch back and forth randomly, to be honest. Sometimes over, maybe cause I just feel like pushing previous posts out of the way. Under when I'm feeling lazy.

I do both, and sometimes for shit and giggles-or if I'm intoxicated-in the middle of the other persons quote.

:orely:

Now that explains a lot!

Simon: Gentlemen, I'd like you to meet your captain, Captain Oveur.
Clarence Oveur: Gentlemen, welcome aboard.
Simon: Captain, your navigator, Mr. Unger, and your first officer, Mr. Dunn.
Clarence Oveur: Unger.
Unger: Oveur.
Dunn: Oveur.
Clarence Oveur: Dunn. Gentlemen, let's get to work.
Simon: Unger, didn't you serve under Oveur in the Air Force?
Unger: Not directly. Technically, Dunn was under Oveur and I was under Dunn.
Dunn: Yep.
Simon: So, Dunn, you were under Oveur and over Unger.
Unger: Yep.
Clarence Oveur: That's right. Dunn was over Unger and I was over Dunn.
Unger: So, you see, both Dunn and I were under Oveur, even though I was under Dunn.
Clarence Oveur: Dunn was over Unger, and I was over Dunn.

It depends on how long the conversation's been going on. Long ones, under, short ones, over.
