You've got a great start there! (I'd strongly suggest, though, that you take the shrink wrap off at least the Grant edition. There have been some defects noted in that edition, and you can swap it out with Grant if you want.)

John

I know about these problems, but i am still undecided whether to open my shrink-wrapped books or not. The think ist that i am usually a collector of silver and gold coins. In this area it is important and worth some extra money if you have still sealed editions. This is a sign for untouchable, unscratchable and so on. I still have this thinking about books and as i said i am still absolutly undecided what to do...

Way cool adds (I have to get me one of the Goldsboro Bronze Edged / Signed / Limited / Numbered / All Singing / All Dancing Editions - no, seriously, I do, cos I have one of the Waterstones SNL's of The Passage upstairs, and The Twelve looks like a perfect match for it)

Waterstones did a limited but it was not numbered. Goldsboro Books did the numbered edition of The Passage.

You should do that and i could go upstairs and check it out but i think without looking they are matching or nearly matching. I wonder why the goldsboro edition was sold so cheap... and i also wonder why i never see a passage goldsboro in the bay..??? There should be also 500 books, but you can only by them for 300+ british bucks at goldsboro or at abebooks uk... Where are all the books???

By the way: the price for the passge waterstone s/L version is rising in the last weeks... Anyone knows how much where printed?

There are a couple on ebay and abebooks, the cheapest being around $400. There were 250 of the Goldsboro edition of the Passage, and they bumped the Twelve to 500. It was originally supposed to be 250 but they sold out real quick so they made more. And I've seen somewhere that there were 5000 of the Waterstones signed versions of the passage but that seems high to me.

Ok, thanks a lot for the explanations... Severally checked the goldsboro page for passage or twelve information but never saw the 250 pieces for the passage *grins*

Till today the most expensivest book i ever bought. Thanks again to stockerlone Frank, the most craziest Stephen King collector in Germany, who is blame for my empty bank-account. One year ago i have never thought of buying a book over 10 €, so see what this man done to me... :pullhair: :ft: :onfire:

Also thanks to cemetary dance that made it possible to me to buy one of the traycased editions, that fits perfect to my slipcased one... :excited:

MONSTERBOOKday today. Thanks for the guy in this forum who figured out that this book was cut down from 500US$ to 23,48US$ by amazon. I was so lucky to get one. The shipped it to Germany for only 13,98 US$, and as final plus i was free of tax, when i picked it up today at the customers! And YES the Cronins Twelve is the real one ^^

The constitution of the USA by Sam Fink 1491/1500 - and i have the superspecial edition signed by Barack Obama, Goerge W Bush, The British Queen, The Pope, Jesus Christ and Dagobert Duck!!! I can not show all this signatures because the book is still shrinkwrapped and i do not want to destroy. For all this signatures i take orders now from 10.000$ upwards!!!

I'm not sure about analectabooks, but I know we had Jill do some remarques for us. I think the remarqued ones we sold may have come with a slipcase, but I can't remember as that was awhile ago. I feel like we had more than 12 done but probably less than 25, but again I can't remember. Great stuff by the way. I really loved how those Cronin art prints turned out, though The Passage ones where a bit disappointing due to some damage they sustained on the trip from Croatia.

Wool UK 1/1 Goldsboro identical to the trade HC UK 1/1 but limited and signed and numbered and slipcased 265/500

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25864113/books/Howey Hugh_Wool_Goldsboro_limit.jpg

Wool US 1/1 from amazon(!) - so they really sold first/first - imho the US-version is more interesting due to the classic two colored book-binding, the golden title on the side and the slipcased with a feelable structure on it

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25864113/books/Howey Hugh_Wool_US_front.jpg

Some new editions and one very special. An absolut perfect edition of The Gunslinger 1/1. The story behind that is, that i bought it at the beginning of November last year for a lot of good money. It was then shipped from US to Germany at the beginning of December. At the end of February and after it still not arrives both sides decided that it was lost on the journey. The seller refunded met the complete money!!! And finally, 1 week ago, so at the beginning of April a parcel - one of several that are on the way from US to me arrived. I opened it thinking of nothing good or bad expecting one of my newer boughts, there it was in perfect shape, untouched by the customers. 4 months journey ended. I have the idea, that the plane crashed or the ship sunk, the gunslinger himself climbed out the book and paddled the loooooooong way over the huuuuuge sea to Germany and climbed back in the postbox... Some thoughts on this possibility. Now i have a book for free??? Of course not, i mailed the seller and he was very happy and we made the trade as we wanted to do in November!

And here it is, only a front cover picture, but the book is in brillant unread condition:

Stephen King 1/1 The gunslinger

Few days ago i received a bog parcel with 12 custommade-slipcases from Jeffrey Whiley (UK). I recommend his slipcases months or weeks ago in other threads here and i now several people ordered from him. His slipcases are the best-less-money-custommade-slipcases at the moment imho (only 12,95GBP). Because of that i ordered from him a slipcase for my 1/1-Gunslinger and my 1/4-Hobbit. They are both my absolute new P&J. I took the measures and Jeff did the rest. Wonderful work. The Gunslinger is absolut perfect fitting, so if someone wants to save his Gunslinger, he can now directly order there, Jeff now has the perfect measures! Ok, talked to much, here are the pics...

CD´s slipcase double edition for Grants first The Talisman and The Black House

There are two things i want to say about. First, the red is really red, to much red imho. I ask myself why they couldnt take another colour. Probably black and silver or grey and silver. But ok, this is a personal thing. Also i do not like that if you look at the sides of the book, the titles of both books are not at the same height. Of course this is a Grants mistake. Would they match in height this would be much nicer... ok, here are the pics

"The Monster in the Box" is related to King's story The Crate, which was also done in the movie Creepshow.

John

And, his name is Fluffy (true, it is) - well done on acquiring one of those Torben, they're rare-ish, I acquired one maybe three years ago, and have seen maybe only 2 or 3 for sale since.

You're welcome mate ... The guy that makes them only seems to do one or two when he needs some extra money (so, he didn't make, like, 100 of them, then stop - he makes a few, sells them, then another little batch will pop up a year or so later somewhere) ....

Of course Alex would have made it also DinA3 - full color- HD - trees and roads and everything around, but i was "only" able to afford this small sketch with the little money i own. :lol1:

Paul Maar - Eine Woche voller Samstage - ARC ultrarare and i found it by accident - there is a nice interesting background for this german kids-book: <Paul Maar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Maar)> is a german kidsbookwriter and is really popular here - many of his books also got translated in uncountable languages, of course also in English - but this book "Eine Woche voller Samstage (translation could be One week full of Saturdays)" is absolut his most popular book with many sequels and also two films (English title is: My Magical Friend Sams). BUT: there is one real big problem with this book, it is absolutely not translateable in the english (they did it with 1 film, but i think, you have other possibilities in film than in written words) or also in many other languages, because it "plays" with the german language and mainly only works with the german language. There seemed to be many tries to translate in English, because of course you could make a lot of money with this book, but at the end all try´s to do this failed. Only less than a handful languages made it possible to got translated. This is funny because of course the market for kidsbook is tremendous rich and Paul Maar of course will never be poor, but lost a lot of money...

One aspect I love about your new acquisition is that it still has the tissue paper. The stand was one of the first books I every bought - I got five of them at the time for the $250 (I think) original price. I parlayed four of them over the years into much of what I have now. But being one of my first books, I did not know enough to save the tissue. What a dolt!

Aha! Now I know why I couldn't find a copy of the limited THE STAND! Someone bought 5 of them!!! I actually did try to buy one when it was released, but every bookstore and dealer I contacted said they were sold out or they couldn't find one. I didn't have as many contacts then as I do now though. Oh well, it's still high on my want list.

Nice I AM LEGEND!!

I have one of these too. You know that the signature is rumored to be an signed by autopen, not an actual signature. The signature on your copy is in the exact same place as mine and looks exactly the same. Still nice to have.

MMh, I had a questionmark about this signature from the time of first look at it. Could you make a picture of yours?

Mine looks slightly different, so I can't say for sure. I just remember reading a long time ago that it was an autopen and that Crichton was not too happy about it after the fact

Thanks! In the meanwhile i googled a little bit. Yes, autopen... But ok, still is a real signature hahaha, just multiplied 5 times... as you said, still a nice copy to have, but its really bad, that the seller said nothing. I just found lot of books at abebooks and the descriptions says autopen...

Thanks again for the information!!!

Stephen King - signed and "inscribed" The eyes of the dragon

I bought this book from ebay/sgc191999 , also a member here in the Forum. Was there a time Stephen King signed with lead pencil. I also do not understand why he (if it was he, but it seems to be the same pencil) checked off several books on the side showing relevant other books of King, someone any idea?

Also two more additions to one of my absolute favorite nonKing-books: Tim Powers - The anubis gates - proofs of UK and US

Hugh Howey - Molly Fyde and the persona rescue first print with Hugh Howey and his wife in the back - there is one more special thing of this copy, its one of really only a few that he signed after released in 2009 and now again for me in 2013, he made this extra for me and figured it out on the signature side. He really surprised me with this double signature - thanks Hugh!
