Obsessive Stephen King fans can test their obscure character knowledge with the brand new Stephen King Universe Flowchart.

Designer Gillian James has created a jumbo-sized infographic showing connections between King characters among his many novels. We’ve included a small corner of the chart above, but it was too big for our blog. Follow this link to see the full chart in all its glory. Check it out:

When I was in Grade 5 (guess I was ten), my friend Tarnya Smyth brought her mum’s battered copy of Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’ to school. We broke it into about 4 pieces and passed them around, all taking turns reading each battered section. I told mum about it and she FLIPPED HER WIG and told me to ‘Stop reading that book immediately!!’ So I finished it. Now, I TOTALLY do not recommend ten year olds reading Stephen King books (messed me up good), but this was when my life long relationship with Mr King began. My love for his books is based around his characters. They are so full. I love Stephen King dialogue. I love his sense of humour. And I love the links and connections between the books. I am the kind of annoying person who likes to know the ‘In Joke’. So, of course, I MADE A FLOW CHART!!!

My head hurts. I wonder how Psychotic Town Selectman #1 Greg Stillson is (other than in this flowchart) really related to Big Jim Rennie. It is a cool chart, and makes one think, but sometimes there can be too much trying to link any/everything in ALL King novels together.

I think some people have too much time on their hands.

It does make your head hurt and maybe folks do have too much time on their hands (clearly), but it is kinda cool since we have already got a pretty good chart for the DT connections. Though, acknowledgement of that, here would be a perk. Still a noble, if vertigo inspiring, attempt!!!

I think it's pretty amazing even if some of the connections are tenuous.

This is basically what I planned to do my thesis on... I have tons of notebooks connecting all of King's works into one giant story. lol

I have a part of my website dedicated to that, if that can help you ;-)

I would love to see a timeline of events from all his books put together. Birthdays, deaths, major/minor events, etc...

What made me think of if was the fact that the events with the kids in IT happened right around the same time as the events in Low Men in Yellow Coats from Hearts in Atlantis. Within a couple of years of each other. So Bobby, Carol and SJ are about the same age as Richie, Bev, Stuttering Bill and the rest of the Losers Club.

Thanks a bunch!! I need to get around to creating a formal representation of the connections.

Quite impressive. A higher resolution copy would be great.

Obsessive Stephen King fans can test their obscure character knowledge with the brand new Stephen King Universe Flowchart.Ok, well, off the top of my head, the protagonist of Bag of Bones was named Michael Noonan, not "Micheal" Noonan, and Dolores Claiborne was a novel by King, not "Delores Clairborne."

Do I pass?
