I'll include the link to my Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/stkmw02) album with my collection. If you'd like to see any close up images or other angles of any of the collection items, I'm happy to oblige.

In the future, I'll share photos of the new items I add on this thread as well.

I met Mick the same day I met my husband, on the set of Brutal Massacre: A Comedy. In fact, it was my husband who provided the photos, which were taken by our friend Mike Manikowski. Mick also wrote me a note, which has been lost. It said: Mind the gristle, Krystle! Drinks after shoot? Unfortunately, I could not go for drinks... I was only 20.

This is the Stephen King interview for Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments in its entirety. Even Bravo does not have this footage, which includes behind the scenes, outtakes, and candid conversation with King. My husband and his business partner filmed this interview and met King. (Unfortunately, I didn't even know my husband then... so I did not have the pleasure of tagging along.)

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn298/stkmw02/Stephen%20King%20Collection/IMG_3049.jpg
This is the animatronic anteater head used during the filming of Kingdom Hospital. The final screen version used CG overlay, but this stood in on set with the actors to allow for better blocking and interaction. The inner mechanics are intact and the latex and "fur" are in perfect condition. My husband purchased the antubis props as a gift for me. (The other test antubis head is in storage.) Expect more photos of Antubis and his ugly twin later...

How the hell did you guys know that was a link!? Wow, lol

Aggghhhh ant-eater! lol that's creepy! Awesomely creepy! lol You have McFarlane Toys! I had a small collection (in boxes) but decided against collecting anymore. They take up too much space. I am selling mine if you're interested. Let me know.

I'd love to see that Bravo footage. Behind The Scenes stuff is the best!

Nice Bible.

Wait, there's two Eyes Of The Dragons dustjacket states!? What's going on here?

Good stuff!

You sure? That looks mucho intentional to me.

Now, I'm not so sure...

"When EYES came out I located a copy from all three publishing houses that did the 1st edition run. I found these at bookstores. The strange thing is, all 3 jackets are slightly different. The Haddon Craftsmen, Scranton Pennsylvania jacket has the red letters with just a hint of white around them on both cover and spine and the "scales" on the jacket are very shallow. The Arcata Graphics, Keene, New Hampshire jacket has deeper "scales" and white background on the cover letters but no white on the spine. The Arcata Graphics, Hawkins County, Tennessee has deep scales, with the white outlines on both the cover and the spine. These books have never been exposed to sunlight. Your different coloring on the spine may be an indication that they changed dies or some other factor when printing these jackets or, more likely, they were printed in three or possibly four different printing facilities. Whichever is the case, this is a quite fascinating discovery."

underlined...

We're going to get a better picture of Antubis soon. We also contacted the FX company today to get some more information about him and his ugly twin. We just now realized he may be the ONLY finished head prop. We already know he was used on set with the cast, which was cool enough for me. lol

My husband is the one with the McFarlane set. He has... a lot. His goal is to someday display each figure with a photo of himself and the actors. He has pretty many, but not enough space to display them. Let me know what you've got available... if it's something he's missing, I might snatch it up as a gift for him!

I think I watched the Bravo footage a dozen times in a row when he first showed it to me. I still get giddy when King has a casual conversation with my husband.

That bible is pretty darn old. I just got it for Christmas from my 85 year old great aunt. It's been in the family for a long time... I'm in the process of restoring it.

I'm trying to figure out that Eyes of the Dragon deal myself... because I'm considering selling one. If it's sun damage, I'm happy to give it up... but it's a potential duplicate cover, I might hold on to it. lol

It's nice to see your wonderful collection over here.

About the EotD cover: yours might be a combination of the variant cover and sun-fading. I would hold on to it for now.

I see you have the Dario Argento Collection. Are you a fan of his as well?

Brice
05-13-2012, 02:31 AM
Argento is brilliant!

I do NOT think that's sun fading on the EotD at all. I think it's printed that way.

Argento is brilliant!

I do NOT think that's sun fading on the EotD at all. I think it's printed that way.

If you look at the descriptions of the three different printings, they either have white outlines around the letters or not but no mention that the actual letters are a different shade/color other than red.

I worked in a book store in 1987 and saw a lot of copies of this book, including ones with sun-faded spines/covers. I'm pretty sure red will fade to this color when exposed to sun over time.

If there were no white outline, I would believe it's a variant. Or, if the letters were red with white outlines.

I'm a huge Argento fan.

I'm a fan, but my husband is the one responsible for most of the DVDs and toys around Antubis. ;)

I'm really not sure what to make of that EotD cover... I've had a lot of different opinions from collectors and sellers. I suppose I'll hold on to it for a bit.

Shrinkwrap = Devil! I have heard so many stories about shrinkwrap ruining the dustjackets, finding fuck ups and printing errors whe they take off the dustjacket, finding signed limited books without the signed limited pages, lol, the list goes on and on. Unwrap.

skyofcrack
05-19-2012, 12:02 PM
I would say keep the shrink wrap on only if you have a spare copy to trade of any book. If it's your only copy, remove and put a plastic cover on immediately and examine the book for imperfections.

stkmw02
05-19-2012, 05:32 PM

It's actually the same cover. When I used a flash, it made the cover seem much lighter and "faded" than it really is, so I took another without the flash... which makes it seem much darker. I'll need to get my husband to use his skills to capture the true perfect color of that cover.

Adding to the collection, but with some questions:
The Running Man first edition first printing Signet paperback (Should the price be $2.50 or $2.95?)
The Long Walk first edition first printing Signet paperback (Should the price be $1.95 or $2.25?)
Secret Window BOMC (should the price appear on the dust jacket?)
The Green Mile Part 1: The Two Dead Girls first edition first printing Signet paperback
Dolores Claiborne first edition first printing
Storm of the Century hardcover BOMC
Pet Sematary first edition first printing second cover state (although the Y38 is damaged from glue, it can still be read)

Plus Castle Rock newsletters (first four staple bound stamped "original", complete - I think - up to Vol. 4 No. 12)
So that means I am definitely on the search for the remaining issues!
Anyone have a suggestion for the best way to preserve these papers? I know of a few different ways, but want to be sure I pick the most cost effective and successful method.

Thanks, John! The resources I check to confirm first editions sometimes have conflicting information. Of course, I definitely trusted the seller of this stuff! ;) I just wanted to see if there was any reason for the conflict (like price errors on certain states, etc.)

I am one happy collector! Thanks to all the sellers from this forum who helped me celebrate my birthday and graduation in King style!

I'm sorry....does that say Evil Bong?

We have the actual Evil Bong in our home. Sean was a producer on that one, but didn't have any hand in the actual creation of it. Same with Thankskilling 2, Gingerdeadman, and a few others.

Pretty awesome! I would love to do a horror movie. I have everything it takes ....except talent.

stkmw02
05-30-2012, 06:42 PM
No talent required.

Hells Half Acre was Sean's first solo movie, no budget. A few major companies offered to purchase the rights, but he won't sell. Someone at Bravo saw it and asked Sean to film some of the interviews for their 100 Scariest Movie Moments - that's how he worked with George Romero and interviewed Stephen King. From there... well, we met on the set of Brutal Massacre: A Comedy and then worked together on the movie Bereavement. He's currently assisting with the TV show School Spirits for NBC, filming his own documentary on arcade games, and doing boring corporate work for Martin Guitar factory and MLB's Majestic Athletic.
You can see his work at:

Very cool! That would be so fun! I used to "work" at a year round haunted house doing makeup/minor prosthetics, etc... The etc... =mostly running through the back corridors scaring the shit out of guys who could curl me with one hand. LOL

stkmw02
07-09-2012, 08:36 AM
The items themselves aren't official movie props, that I know of. But the machete is signed by all the Jasons and I think a few other Friday the 13th cast members. The chainsaw is Gunnar Hansen of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame and Bruce Campbell, the other chainsaw wielding awesomeness.

The rest of that room (which is my husband's office/our cat's "bedroom") isn't quite as crowded. All the movie figures make it look a little cramped. lol

Just think, when the room is deserted all the figures come to life and scamper around. I know this is true because I saw it in some Pixar movies.

Feels like forever since I posted in this thread...

I just moved my collection (and the other contents of my home) into a new house. Instead of being crammed into one glass doored bookshelf in my living room and stuffed into a closed cabinet that rarely saw the light of day, my books and other King items will now have a home in an official "Library" in my attic. (Having my own home library makes my heart so happy, I almost cry every time I walk in there!)

The room is still in shambles as I unpack, touch up paint, and have woodwork finished... but I'll share photos as soon as I am able.

Now comes the challenge of arranging the items for display and cataloging them somehow digitally. I just added the Home Library app and paid for the full version to record all of my books, DVDs, etc. Does anyone else use this? Does anyone else have a better program?

Congratulations on your new house and library.

I use an Excel spreadsheet for my King items, and even then I miss some things. If I remember correctly, that Home Library app has a size limit that's less than the size of my collection, so I've never used it.

I just use good reads... I have also used Library Thing.
The nice thing about Good Reads is there is a scanner so you can just scan each UPC and it will add it. I have multiple shelves such as 1/1, collectible, and reading copy that I scan them to. Makes things easier than typing everything out. I tried doing that but then I forget to update it. I even added a shelf of want so that I can add books to that shelf so others know what to get me come holidays :).

I do know that Library Thing is coming out with an App but I haven't checked in awhile the progress of it.

Whenever I hear someone has SK books in their attic it makes me cringe. I hope that room is climate controlled so no excess heat or humidity gets to your books.
