Randall Flagg is a fictional character in author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. As one of the many aliases of Walter, Randall Flagg is known for wreaking havoc in many of King’s novels.

Flagg in The Dark Tower Novels

In Topeka, Roland and his ka-tet encounter graffiti referring to Randall Flagg as the Walkin’ Dude. In The Drawing of the Three, Roland calls Flagg a demon posing as a man and says he can change men into dogs. Roland also states that Flagg is being chased by Dennis and Thomas, both characters from The Eyes of the Dragon.

Flagg in the Dark Tower Connection Novels

Flagg makes his first official appearance in the 1978 novel The Stand as the main antagonist, followed by significant roles in The Eyes of the Dragon and The Dark Tower series. In The Eyes of the Dragon, Flagg frames Peter for his father’s murder so he may place Peter’s weaker brother Thomas on the throne. In The Stand, Flagg gathers the dregs of humanity in Las Vegas in order to annihilate the inhabitants of the Free Zone who honor the White.

Randall Flagg goes by many names. Some are listed below:

In The Eyes of the Dragon he also known as Bill Hitch and Browson.

As Richard Fannin in The Wastelands and Wizard and Glass he is described as being inhuman, with blue-green eyes and blue-black hair that looks like raven's feathers. His hands have no lines on them. The Tick-Tock man, leader of the Grays in Lud, fears him. In The Dark Tower, we learn he was born Walter Padick, son of Sam the Miller.

In The Dark Tower we learn Flagg fought under the name Rudin Filaro in the battle of Jericho Hill.

In The Stand, Randall Flagg is known as the Walkin' Dude.
