The Shining's a great horror novel, but The Stand is one of my all-time favourites, so that gets my vote.

The Shining is way more than just a horror novel. It's a great novel period.

Sophie's Choice!

I've re-read both of these books a lot over the years but probably The Shining a few more times just because The Stand is so long and I need more time to absorb every juicy word. For that reason alone The Shining gets my vote.

Another vote for the Shining because it has been so long and it is shorter?

Two '70s classics :) Very disproportionate results so far.

I predict that The Stand will clean up votes no matter what it is up against. It's the perennial favorite is it not?

It is. Some believe, unfairly :)

I don't know how this would be unfair. Personally, I am going to vote It against any other book (bears and heathers are ganging up this year...), but The Stand is, in bears' opinion, superior to any other book except It (the degree of superiority is different in every particular case)

Apparently there are 3 people who have some reading to do.

My vote goes for The Stand, rather easily. been years since I've read it, and I desperately need to get back to it.
