I refuse to vote. Of course The Stand; but how am I supposed to vote against Duma Key?

Hear, hear.

I don't think I will vote in this round at all. Neither choice seems correct. The Stand is the better book, but DK is my personal favorite (it's like TWL against Wolves), second only to It - and by the way, I already said somewhere long time ago that I feel they are closely related.

I went with The Stand although it was a very challenging decision. The Stand I think is the better book however DK re-ignited my passion for Stephen King and is one of the best books written by SK (IMO). Very...very...very tough decision.

As much as I really really liked Duma Key, The Stand is my all-time favorite book. I read it about every year or so--like visiting old friends.

I still need to read Duma Key. What year was it released? Can someone give me a really brief run-down of the plot? I don't like looking at reviews or plots with Google because more times than not, they contain spoilers which pisses me off.

I've re-read the original The Stand many times and is my favorite of his novels.

Succesful contractor loses right arm in construction accident, subsequently loses wife in divorce, moves to the Gulf side of Florida and starts to paint. Strange things happen.....

Duma Key. If I had to pick a reason, less religious overtones...

I try to vote before reading the thread comments. This came closest to how I felt when I voted for THE STAND.

Yes, and now you put it this way it sounds like an ursine thing to do, but I just couldn't. Thinking of Harold and Larry must have been the last straw. Rarely have I seen such a fine study of human characters.
