C for ending? A bit too harsh, isn't it?

Maybe...
I first thought I'd give it a B, but I remember being quite unimpressed with the ending (way back in the mid-eighties), so...

I went with a B myself.

Truthfully, I wasn't too impressed with the novel, maybe all the hype surrounding it led me to think I'd be constantly blown away. I wasn't, but it was a very very good novel, not in my Top 5, but Top 10 for sure.

it's not hype, it's love...

I must say I wonder what sort of awesome drugs King was doing in the mid-eighties to churn out such amazing works of fiction in that time period (Pet Sematary, It, DT2, Misery). That really was his creative peak, I think, although I believe he's always been on a roll, never really sliding down much.

It's a little tricky to define the ending of this novel, even though it does have clearer resolution than much of SK's stuff; after all, the book's whole structure is quite complex.
I might go as low as "B+" on the climax, and even lower than that on SOME elements of the denouement, but "Bill Denbrough Beats the Devil" remains one of my favorite passages of fiction ever.

AAA for sure, the only part that has ever stuck in my craw was the mighty turtle, but in light of DT, I'm ok with that too.
