I finally took some photos. I am starting with the wide view of my library. Yes, I know there is Wonder Woman stuff on the wall. My wife and I recently swapped her craft room and my former library and I haven't had time to remove it yet.

Thanks Noal! I have literally only been collecting since maybe November. I have been reading for years, but always purchased the paperbacks because they were cheaper.

Nice stuff Dan. What version of The Catcher in the Rye do you have? I see it to the left of Carrie on another shelf. Is it just a reprint (like the super rare 49th printing that I have  )?

I will check when I get home. I'm fairly certain its a BOMC version. Very good book, though.

I confirmed that I do, in fact, have a BOMC edition of Catcher in the Rye. It was printed in 1951 with the same DJ as the original. I bought it because I like the look of the book, wanted to read it and it was only $5.

I stopped at my local used bookstore today, as is my normal Saturday morning, and picked this up for $6.50. It is a first edition, fine condition, with brodart cover already on it. I would have probably bought it even without the signature inside. I took a chance that it is legit. It looks like the other Matheson signature I have. I have no idea who the second signature is. Any guesses are welcome. Also picked up a couple of first edition Straub books, nothing signed though.

Dan, is the cover of that first PASSAGE proof you show, which I'm assuming is the UK Orion, a picture of Amy's face?

If you are talking about the white cover that has writing, then no. It is identical in content to the signed one. On the back it states "special preview edition". It is Ballentine Books and has the same number of pages. I got it because I had not seen this one before.

So as far as I can tell, there are 3 proof states. The ARC from Ballantine with the photo cover, the ARC from Ballantine with the blurb cover and the UK Orion ARC with Amy's face on the cover.

(There is also an GERMAN slipcased ARC / Leseexemplar of DER ÜBERGANG-The Passage.)

On the German bookpremiere event, Justin Cronin signed me my Leseexemplar, he said that this
was the first German book he signed. He is a friendly guy, it was nice to talk and drink with him.

Interesting titles. What do you mean, a freebie from Sub Press? Was it just something they did at random? I ordered a book for another person once from them and they enclosed a proof copy of one of their books, which I gave to the person I'd ordered the book for (after all, it was his money). So I guess they do this occasionally. So of course I've never got anything like that in one of my orders. But once in a while they'll send me a free book or two if a title they announced is behind schedule. If CD did that I'd be drowning in free books. That's just a joke, so please don't be offended CD!!!!

I really like that LEGENDS.

I've read the story. Very well written. Not horror. I liked it. You can definitely see his style in this writing. Its about a boy who knows he has "problems", and copes with them as best he can. He basically talks about his folks and how each one treats him different and his life with his "problem".

I need to look again, but basically the earliest books, any of the Bachman books, and some of the odds and ends like Cycle of the Werewolf, My Pretty Pony, etc. I'm not in a huge rush, I just figure I will pick them up when I see a good deal. That's how The Stand came about.

It is 35mm, but I don't have a projector. It was very cheap and looked interesting, so i bought it. The tape on it keeps it sealed. For that matter, it could be anything on the film. :)

Yes, I'm a fan, but I've never read anything else except for Dark Tower series. I was never into comics and took a chance with Locke & Key and found I really liked it. I've never been into super hero stuff and this reads like a book. It also has made me appreciate art much more. Just thinking about the time spent on creating one issue is amazing. I wish I could have helped more.

Darn, I completely forgot I still need Shivers VI in hardcover. Your recent update reminded me.

I dig Locke and Key. The story is intriguing and the artwork gets better with time. I wasn't into it at all in the beginning but it's much more solid now. If you don't read comics at all, L&K is a good gateway book. If you've already read Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Jeff Lemire, Matt Wagner, Straczynski, J.H. Williams III, it might feel like a step down. Brilliance of those men can really spoil fanboys.

I don't know who is or isn't the praying type, but please remember me this week. I was riding my bicycle yesterday and a car hit me. I have a broken hip socket on left side and fractured pelvis on left side. Also a torn ligament in my shoulder, so I can't even use a walker. I will have no use of my left leg for 6 - 8 weeks. I was wearing a helmet and the accident was the fault of the car. Overall it could have been much worse, so I am grateful for only having the injuries that I received.

Dan, that sucks. Sorry to hear about it, but thank Baby Jesus that it wasn't worse. Car accidents are no joke, especially when you're not even in a car!
