Strength of Plot: B

again, a typical King's plot, driven by nothing except the main premise and characters

Character Development: B

Jack would have earned an A, but mother is still a puzzle to me - I am not sure if King wanted to make her such a perfect bitch as I see her. As far as Danny is concerned, I barely remember him as an actual human being.

Quality of the Story's Ending: B

A lot of fuss; other than that, nothing that wasn't expected.

Oh! I didn't know the voting criteria was different for each title. Is that fair?

The Shining was a very enjoyable roller coaster ride through a haunted hotel. By that i mean that sometimes it seemed like the story was on autopilot, simply leading the reader on a stop by stop journey from scary place to scary place inside the hotel.

Great story and as a bonus you can visit the hotel that inspired the book - easy pick as one of his best.

I've only seen the movie. On my list to read this year!

I have to abstain from voting as my memories of the book are clouded and hopelessly intertwined with the movie, which was pretty good considering.

ABA, had to give it a B in Character development because, although Jack is very well defined, the other characters are simply stock.
