I doubt it will have trouble gaining either of the top two spots in this bracket. One of King's best for me, a definite five. This and 11/22/63 are probably King's best novels of the new millennium.

Five for me. As I read this book after it was released it felt like a homecoming to me. This was SK's best book in many years IMHO.

Isn't this the story that somebody tried to claim copyright infringement over? I remember reading the thread about it on here and the stuff the person claimed was similar in the two stories was laughable.

I love this book. The chemistry between Edgar and Wireman was awesome, I loved them both as characters. Ilse, that story is just wow. This book just felt like putting on an old coat, really good classic King.

Certainly a 5. I agree that THIS was the book that made me say "King is back!" Great character development and interesting story. Like what seems to happen more often than not with later King, I was more interested in the "normal" story of the characters than the supernatural or horror aspects of the story. The horror aspects of the ending might have pushed it down to a 4 (I was a bit ho-hum on all that), but the overall book is just too good. So 5 it is.

Exactly. But the great character development and interesting story didn't impress me enough to say the same about its overall ranking just because they don't stand out as greater or more interesting than his other work.

Will always be one of my favorite King novels. I can still picture the sights and sounds from Duma Key, four years after I read it.
