One great adventure, this was an exciting book to me, and also my favorite of the series but that is not why I give it a 5 :)

Second least favorite of the series, right after Wizard & Glass. Callahan's story was awesome though, could've been its own novel. A three.

Yeah but still too much lollygagging and jumping in hay.

Yeah but still too much lollygagging and jumping in hay. ok - but Andy the Messenger Robot, and Callahan, and the whole twins thing, and the whole wolves thing, and the grandfather's story, and what King is the real king of - a community that lives through crucial changes, the interaction between those people - and the battle, and Orizas, and the anatomy of betrayal, the spectacles, and the price of betrayal... for all that, a three? a three?!!! because of jumping in hay?!

Didn't mean to upset you, Jean ol' buddy, and I really liked some parts of this novel, but sitting around the Calla most of the book was what bored me and made me give it a three. Callahan was great, and had the story progressed more, it would've been a four.

Bears I love all of the above including the lollygagging and jumping in the hay but mostly I love that this is where Roland becomes a whole person to me, where he feels most real if you know what I mean.

5. 2nd favorite (after WaG) I think the casual pace of the novel is part of the enjoyment for me. This might be why I loved WaG so much.

A strong 4. Way too much set up and too little pay-off. It was a very good read, but not one of his best. A stand-alone story.

This mini-rant made me laugh, for some reason. (Probably because I've just finished watching another Malcolm Tucker rant and now imagine it being read as loudly as possible by Peter Capaldi!) But yes, for all those reasons Jean, an easy 5.
