Good. Could be 5 if not for the last part. Unbearable. (no pun!!!)

Have you seen the movie, Jean?

Jean

No! Should I?

Hm, well, it's not the greatest movie, either, but they changed the last part, I was just curious what you'd think of that version. Maybe we should talk more on a different thread. Anyhow, for me, this novel is still one of my least favorite, bright points not withstanding.

Jean

why?

(although maybe this, too, we'll discuss in a different thread. I think I can find the movie, but I don't want to re-read the book right now. Though, on second thoughts, why not.)

Well, on top of what I said here (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?915-King-s-worst-novel&p=669175&viewfull=1#post669175), ("incoherent and unbelievable") I just think it's too complicated and too self derivative.

I also tend to agree, - but I do not consider any of these to be drawbacks (rather, just characteristic features); that's why I so hope we can talk more about it some day.

It's not his worst book but definitely in my bottom 10.

I loved the characters in this book. The under story was rich. This is one of my favorites.

4. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Almost gave it a 5, but felt like I was giving out too many so I'm trying to reserve those for my absolute favorites.

No! Should I?

No! Please don't.

4. I liked this book, but disliked the ending in both the book and movie.

I'm not sure I even knew they made a movie out of this. Sounds like I'm better off without it.

I give the book a 4.

But the question isn't whether it is your absolute favorite. It is whether you loved it. So, if you love it... then love it -

But I need some sort of ranking system.

Eh, well, that makes some sense, but if you can't rank them perfectly yet, your chance will come in Round 2. :)

Considered between 1 and 2 and went with 2. The story was whack and the Duddits character seemed like a Tom Cullen re-hash.

Never read. The movie was decent though, although a little all over the place.

Not bad. So, you've read around roughly 40-50% of his works and it looks like the entire DT series. You should set your sites on completing ALL his works, except for "Faithul" and pursue it like your collecting. In fact, maybe a self imposed rule that you can't collect it until you have read it or, scheduled it to be read? What ya think?

Thats alot more than I thought, judging from my memory of your response to the polls, I guess I remember alot of "never reads" that werent there.

Shannon

It's maybe a third of his published books. You guys also have to remember, I am young, both in age and in collecting age, lol. I'll catch up. :)

WOW!!!

I mean, Shannon's list looks impressively long - but everywhere I look I see a "never read" from him - so what an amazing shit ton of books Sai King has written!!!!!!!

sometimes one loses focus, and needs a push to see things as if anew; thank you Shannon. Yet another time I realize what an amazing writer King is
