I am sorry. I intensely dislike King's non-fiction, prefaces, afterwords and public speeches including.

3. I'm not a writer and never will be but it was interesting to see how the process works. I could also see where a few of his stories came from.

This is the only SK I have not read. Guess it is time, after Wind Through The Keyhole that is :)

Why is that?

I'm curious why Danse Macabre is not included in these polls if On Writing is.

It was included in our two previous Constant Reader Awards, but like other non-fiction books, garnered very few votes, ending up being rated Never Read by a very wide margin. Only On Writing did well in past polls, so it was decided it should remain the lone non-fiction work.

Good answer. Thanks! I'm fairly new here so this is my first of these polls to take part in.

I liked Danse Macabre better than On Writing. And I found it very useful for pointing me towards some good fiction that I didn't know about. That said, I gave On Writing a 3, and DM would have garnered the same.

I find most of he says either commonplace or just plain - well, how to put it mildly - BS. Sorry again.

I love King's non-fiction. I find it interesting and insightful. Danse Macabre would get a 5 from me. As does On Writing.

5! Excellent Autobiography/How-To-Write Guide/Behind-The-Scenes Peek. Loved it.
Jean, dumb question, and forgive me if I missed something obvious here, but do you write? Are you a writer?
I ask because I think this book would resonate more with writers, i.e. people that write.

.....writers, i.e. people that write.
Jean, dumb question, and forgive me if I missed something obvious here, but do you write? Are you a writer?.Yes, I do write, and people say I it's not all that bad. I used to post some bits at .net - not the real writing, because I, obviously, do it in Russian, but some stuff to entertain people, and I am happy to say they seemed to be entertained. I think I'll post something here too, later.

Cool, I was just wondering because like I said, I think On Writing would connect more writers rather than nonwriters. I loved it from top to bottom. I'd love to read some of your entertaining writing one day, but in English, please. :)
by the way, I love reading non-fiction about literature. I just don't think King's was interesting.
