After going thro the bookcase and collection threads, thought I'd post a few pictures to try to motivate getting organized. But to start I finally got these put in the living room last year and took all of 2 seconds to fill.

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac54/ICONfan/LRBKCases.jpg

There are a few of the King collection. The cases are great - solid wood from a bald furniture shop. Will hold any size/weight. Just had to paint them.

In another room, which came with some built in shelves.

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac54/ICONfan/StudyBooks.jpg

And some more of the King collection...

There are more in other rooms, but enough for now. Thought I'd post one of the two remarques I have. Altho remarques don't really interest me, I fell for the bobble-head bear.
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac54/ICONfan/MaitzRemark.jpg

And, just to tweak the book burner, I thought I'd steal UR2nd's MO and post a book with a prop. Yes, that's a real license plate. Every five years or so they issue new ones, whether you need them or not. So, altho this one sits in a drawer, the car actually has these on it. If you're ever in Texas and see it, honk! (What a great cover pic.)

Very nice! And like Shannon said, that's how I'd like it to look as well. We actually have a similar setup/look but our cases are less robust and there's less free space in front of them.

Wow. Are those World Book Encyclopedias on one of the shelves near the floor? We had a set that looked just like those back in the 1960's. Haven't seen those in years.

In what part of Texas do you live?

Wow. Are those World Book Encyclopedias on one of the shelves near the floor? We had a set that looked just like those back in the 1960's. Haven't seen those in years.
In what part of Texas do you live?

Yes, those are World Books from the early 60's with Year Book and Science Years from the early 60's to the mid 70's. Guess I'll date myself - they were mine as a kid. For some reason I can't part with them.
I'm on the coast down by Galveston - La Marque. Hot, humid and giant mosquitoes. And every summer I wonder which books to pack if the monster hurricane heads for us...

I loved those World Book Encyclopedias. They went in an estate sale when my parents moved into assisted living a couple of years ago. I wish I could have taken them but it just wasn't possible. Younger people don't realize that a set of encyclopedias was about all we had as young students to do any kind of research for school reports, etc. I guess the internet has made encyclopedias pretty unnecessary but back in the day it was a real luxury to have them. I spent countless hours browsing through them.

I know your area well. My wife grew up in Galveston and I met her when I was in medical school there (back in the early 1970's). We are in Amarillo which, I guess, is about as far away as you can get and still be in Texas.

Welcome to the site!

...when I was in medical school there (back in the early 1970's).
Small world. I know UTMB well - worked there from 1977-1995, then decided needed different career from research. Rarely ever cross the Causeway these days.

Another bookcase - the rest of the Easton Press collection. All Masterpieces of SF or Signed SF's. That flash has got to go.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something - but it's a pretty regular collection. Nothing special except maybe the Maitz. And missing tons of things. I never even bought a proof til a couple of years ago.
But I can post a closeups...a few at a time.

The Maitz prelim, Dolan's Cadillac and an old mug from pre-David Betts.

My only other remarque from SODII S/L
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac54/ICONfan/SODIIRemark.jpg

And the one thing I collect I really haven't noticed much of here(altho I haven't read all the threads so maybe somebody else does) are the movie posters. I'll start with a classic:

It would take me a long time to post pictures of all of them! Do you specialize, or collect posters of any and all movies you like?

Well, I'd love to see them. I guess specialize would be King, and anything else I like. Mostly books to movies, but some just because, like La Vie En Rose.

2nd, if you like mysteries and rare books, I recommend the series. Janeway is an ex-cop who runs a bookstore and it's all about the books and the hunt for them. And to tie it to King - here's the back cover - question 4. (The book was published in 1992.)

Here’s the pic I was referring to. Oh man I’m sorry to hear you were affected by Harvey. Luckily we weren’t in any of the areas in Austin that flooded but it was definitely a scary time. Are you in Houston? There’s a lot more SK collectors here than I would have thought before I joined TDT. Would be fun to organize some kind of SK geek out sometime.

Lurker

Wow. Now Photobucket pictures are popping up again. A lot of those books in that picture are gone. When I finish reloading it, I'll take another picture. I have finally gotten all my EP's together - they take up most of the first bookcase.
I'm about 5 miles north of Galveston in Galveston County. We got 55 or so inches of rain. Fortunately when realized water was coming in (3 am, why is it always in the middle of the night) I got many of the books up high- including all the threatened SK's.

Anyway, I finally got my Vinny picture framed. A pain to get a pic without reflection or glare - maybe I should have gotten non-glare glass...
