This is the first complete SK novel I finished back in 1979-80 after starting 'Salem's Lot. Love this book. Saw the Kubrick film very shortly afterwards and remember being very disappointed how different it was from the book even though very effective as a scary film.

I just reread this one, and it was just as creepy as I remember it being. Love this one.

Sad to admit that I have yet to read it, own both movie and tv spot, have a near mint copy in a limited dolso case...I should be shot. It is on the list for this year, actually loved both screen versions, but do like Mick Garris version way better:) Very few king books I haven't read and Carrie is one of the few others, hehe.

Loved this book, this is King writing at its best. The way he describes everything is brilliance. The horror of this book fairly leaps out of the pages at you

Because of the huge expectations I had for this one, I was a bit dissapointed... Still a great novel, but not in my top 5

not in mine, either - but it is still good

Not in my top 5, either, but I think I want to change my vote here to a 5 anyway. I mean, I do love it.

The Shining is still the only King book I've read that made me not want to turn out the lights when I went to bed. Duma Key and Bag of Bones came close though.

edit: oops, I forgot about Gerald's Game. Another book that gave me the eebies.

Pet Semetary is the only book, from any author, that has every truly scared me.

This is my favorite book of his. When people ask me to recommend something to read, this is usually on the list. I cannot imagine anyone not being enthralled with this novel! 5 all the way! (I also thank this novel for being my introduction to King. If I had read Dreamcatcher first, I may not have continued for as long as I have.) :cyclops:

Thats what made it all the more scarey for me, not so much the dad who was nutso. (although he did give me the heeby jeebies)

I am still not sure if it was intended, or he thought he was writing a good girl. I think I got to reread it.
