Thanks. I've ordered both the October and November 2011 issues for both parts of the SK articles.

It's funny and typical. I have subscribed to Firsts for 6 or 7 years. There was hardly anything interesting to me in the magazine anymore and I have just let my subscription lapse. Now this!

Who wrote the article?

The Peter Schneider piece titled "Collecting the Works of Stephen King" that was on the Hill House website was originally supposed to be for Firsts Magazine but that was many years ago. For some reason it was never published.

Who wrote the article?

Robin H. Smiley.
Smiley is the publisher of the magazine. Kathryn Smiley is the editor.

I just had a pleasant conversation with Kathryn Smiley. I mentioned this thread and told her to anticipate a few orders-so please order a copy or two of each of these issues.

The story states that in the book Thinner, the picture of the author was a friend of Herb McCauley's. it states: "builder friend named Richard Manual who lived in Minnesota..."
The Catalog entry states: "The author picture is actually Richard Manuel, Kirby McCauley's insurance salesman. McCauley was King's agent at the time."
So is King's agent Herb, or Kirby, and was the person a builder, or an insurance salesman?

His agent is Kirby McCauley (editor of the DARK FORCES anthology), and everything I've ever read says that Manuel was his insurance agent. I've never heard the "builder" story and given the mistake with McCauley's first name, I wouldn't put much faith in that info.

Too bad as I've already read this. But thanks God for putting this up, I'll still be getting both copies. :)
