Hmm. Not very nice for those who bought the hardback. I haven't.... but I'm in the UK so might be in the same boat (unless I order from overseas).

Never mind! :)

Great, always happy to see more fiction coming our way. I'll check it out at a Barnes & Noble. Can't find this news anywhere else though...

It isn't really leaked yet. Kevin at Charnel House first noticed it since he from a blurry image of the cover of FDNS could see mentioning of a new story. I then found the book on Amazon.com which had a better quality picture that I enlarged. I notified kevin about that.

I've asked the Mod at SKMB for some info on this. I will post her reply when she responds.

I agree, it drives me insane when writers/artists etc decide to republish old books with added extras, it smacks of laziness.

Wow, that's an expensive paperback. List price is $16.00.

I rarely buy paperbacks but they seem to be getting more expensive all the time. With a new story I guess I will have to pick this one up.

I wonder if "Under the Weather" will be as dark as the other stories in this volume.

I would hardly consider SK to be lazy. This isn't the republishing of an old title, it is the first mass market paperback of his most recent hardcover. Adding a new short story is giving a bonus to those who choose to purchase. It's also good marketing.

This will undoubtedly be in his next collection, so I won't be buying this as I don't usually purchase paperbacks. I will just read it at the bookstore.

From Ms Mod:

Stephen's new short story, "Under the Weather" (written just in the past month or two) will be included in the U.S. paperback edition and as a new e-book edition of Full Dark, No Stars which will be released on May 24, 2011. It's about 6000 words.

So about the length of "Herman Wouk", somewhat less I guess. Nice.

I'm always up for a new short story. Lucky for me NZ gets the UK editions here so won't be a problem to pick up a copy...

It's the US edition that has it. Which isn't to say the UK won't. (I have my doubts on that, since they haven't mentioned it.)

Two different paperbacks, with same cover available.

Different ISBN-number and number of pages.
ISBN-13 : 9781451648386 vs 9781451650600
No Pages : 384 vs 400

Anyone an idea what the difference is, between the two?

Interesting, Niels. I went on Amazon to check it out and found 2 as well - but with 400 and 480 pages. The 2nd paperback is scheduled for release in September and has a TBD cover. And one of the ISBNs is different than what you posted. Hmmm . . .

I think Lilja in his short review of the story all but spoiled it... :(

I'm glad I didn't read it yet. I was tempted, but I make it a policy to never read a review of a King item until I've read it myself.

Lilja seems to be a very nice guy so this is nothing personal but to be honest, I can't get myself to read his 'reviews' even if I try.

I am note sure what all these different "versions" are. I did just receive a notice from Amazon that the book will not be available until sometime between "June 08 and July 26, 2011" Such a large window for its availability date.

OK I just checked Amazon again and they are saying that one (978-1451650600, 400 pages) is in stock. ISBN 978-1451648386, 384 pages will be available in 1 to 2 months, same cover photo. And ISBN 978-1439192603, 480 pages, available in September. All 3 have different prices as well.

I've ordered the 978-1451650600 on bookdepository and cancelled my pre-order of 978-1451648386.
The second one wasn't available any more.

Now let's see what I receive.

I did the exact same thing thru amazon. We will see what comes and it will be interesting to see what is released in September.

Simon & Schuster lists it as having 400 pages with an ISBN of 9781451650600 and that is available today. Not sure what the other two that Amazon has listed are.

1451650604/9781451650600 is the 400-page trade paperback, which is out today. The other one (143919260X/9781439192603) is the mass market paperback, out in September.

King makes a tiny Dark Tower reference in this story. I thought it was a very good, short jab of a story. It's quite obvious where it's going but the non-twist is not the point, I think.

Well, I finally got around to reading this today and I liked it. I won't spoil anything but I thought it fit in with the other stories in the book.

There's a mention of Nozz-a-la Cola.

Thanks!
When I read what you wrote, I wondered how I could have missed that, but then I checked the story and found that only the term "Nozzy" is used, which explains it.

I don't think Spoiler tags need to be used for "Nozzy", Nozz-a-la Cola etc. Actually we may need a reference tag. :)

I just thought the story was a chapter for a new book and didn't finish it....will have to go back and read it later.

It is funny... i work in advertising and i did recognise it in the story. Also i didnt know the saying "feeling under the weather", therefore i thought that i would be related to Mother Nature becoming crazy and something like this...
