I dig those Plume Gunslinger and Drawing of the Three variants. Were they hard to come across? Is that Drawing of the Three a US or foreign edition?

My god, Michaël, I fear it is too late! I was joking with a co-worker the other day about having to build a shelter out of books after I spend too much money to make rent and get evicted. It's really not nearly that bad, though. Yet.
Don't mean to get off on a tangent: Thanks for the links, olverts! After I get the Donald Grant DT firsts, I'll probably start in on these. Somebody restrain me.

Don't look for any restraint or self control around here. We're all pretty much out of control and encourage others to join us.

Bob is right. I am only selling my proofs because I want to spend the money on other books and items that are more important to me right now (in the grand scheme of things). I'll get back into proof collecting in the future and I will be kicking myself for selling some of my scarce proofs. In the end though, what matters is the feeling of 'the hunt' and the satisfaction of adding stuff to your collection and in this game, there is no room for self-constraint.

I felt like a little kid on christmas when the mailman dropped them off :)

Once took a chance on Nightmares in the sky listed as a paperback for $6 , ended up with a HC 2nd printing with poor DJ

I spoke with Barry from Gauntlet today. He had this information to share:
" these are actually ARCs which were sent to reviewers (50 were sent out). It's been a long time so some details are a bit fuzzy. If we had any "launch party" it was at a convention, though I don't recall which one. I have three copies of that edition (a softcover) remaining. I'm sorry I can't provide any further details."

There are actually a total of 500 numbered copies, a fraction of which have been distributed. Here are my notes on this:

This was produced for a dinner celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Carrie on April 6, 1999. 108 randomly numbered copies were distributed, but approximately 28-42 copies were left on the tables and thrown out that night. None were recovered from the trash. The remaining copies were placed in King’s office safe in Bangor. Five have since been donated to the Bangor public library for fundraisers.

I think $1750 for a copy is a bit high, unless it includes the envelope and the necklace that were distributed that night.

I actually have an out of series, unsigned, unnumbered copy on its way to me and the person I purchased it from was very adamant it was NOT a proof and he was directly involved with the production. Leonard Shoup's items are all, to me, way over-priced. This is a scarce item, but I don't think it's worth $1750.

Yes. I seem to remember he was the one selling it on eBay (and initially with a very high BIN). I think his business is no longer called 'Flatsigned' though.

I'm still looking for that proof, but this is my opinion only, I'd rather have a fine/mint proof with no signature then a damaged one even with King's signature. I already have King's autograph so many times I don't see the need for having it again except on S/N or S/L books. I never did understand why his signature on a book escaltaes the price so much since he's signed probably thousands of books already. And being the hypocrite that I am, I'm still glad my CARRIE is signed.
By the way, that UTD still looks pretty good!

Identify Swedish 1st editions isn´t that easy , no numberline , no "first edition".
Some books is easy because covers isn´t the same as the first edition.

As far as I know, there were 10-12 IT proofs done by CD. I have no idea how many were actually used internally.

I got my copy of the UK EOTD proof from Mr. Rabbit Trick and I have since sold it to another collector here. Other than that I think I've heard of maybe four other copies, including the one Hannes is showing here. It's definitely a scarce one!

I know that when Charlie Fried sold his collection through Betts several years ago neither Chris Cavalier nor I had one. There was one in Charlie's collection and, of course, Chris and I both wanted it and asked Stu for it as well as other books we wanted. To keep things "fair" Stu sent Chris the UK DIFFERENT SEASONS proof and I got the UK TEOTD proof. Chris never found another UK TEOTD proof and it was one of the very few UK proofs missing from his collection when he sold it. From that I have always felt it was a really scarce proof. I have seen 2 or 3 change hands in the past couple of years though.

Congratulations! It's not a very common proof and the ones I have seen were all in pretty poor shape. I think this is the third copy I've seen since I started collecting proofs. Mine looks a little better but has a sunfaded spine.
