What a fun night!
Patrick KICKED ASS getting his extra signatures (with my help I might add). We not only asked people in line with only one book to get one of ours signed/personalized, but Patrick was brave enough to go through the line not once, not twice but THREE TIMES. I thot for sure he would be caught the third time thru but he used his Irish Charm and got the job done. By the end of the night I think we got all our books signed. Chad, you should have stuck around. Sorry I probably shouldnt rub it in, but you got a pretty good haul too so I dont feel too guilty saying it...
And to end the night the wine and beer at the Russian River whatever its called place was very tasty, not to mention Patrick being a pretty fun guy to hang out with. Really had a great time.

One of the highlights of the evening was getting my 1st Stories not just flatsigned but personalized. Gaiman offered to personalize this one even tho the girl who brought up the book had already exceeded the "personalize" quota:
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/Gaiman_Books_009.jpg

Gaiman said he loves this book:
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/Gaiman_Books_007.jpg

I took pics of the signing but Ill let Chad and Patrick post those if they wish...

TN was very generous with her extra books and with her allotment of signatures, for which I am very grateful. Especially after Chad shamed me into leaving a bunch of stuff at home. :P

Love that you got a STORIES inscription, TN. That was great.

At the signing I told Neil I wanted to show him a photo of one of his biggest little fans. Then I showed him this photo taken just before I left that morning:

Neil fawned over her appropriately. :)

Aw, thank you, TN.

Awesome! I never thought of getting a child's book signed. My daughter would love that.
Thanks, Dan, then you might appreciate this excerpt from a post I made on this site in July 2009...

...
Then I told him that I have a 1-month old daughter and that I read her his book, "Blueberry Girl (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?p=415483#post415483)," released a couple months ago. I told Neil that it was already flatsigned, but I would appreciate it if he could just inscribe it to my daughter. He was happy to do so and, of course, he signed it after inscribing it - even though this was my third book.
[Side note: So the book is actually signed twice - on separate pages.]

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/BookSignings/071909-Gaiman22b.jpg...http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Gaiman-Bberry1.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/BookSignings/Gaiman-Blueberry-Sig.jpg

...
The 1- month I referenced then is now the 4-year old in the current picture upthread.

This just came. I didn't really think it would be the signed limited for $19.99 even though the seller verified it. I guess they don't sell them in order of number.

WDIL, wow, what a night! Having the babysitting grandparents back out at the last minute and then the prospect of the author arriving late and almost cutting down the signing... Yikes. Especially after all the logistics and travel you endured. I am so glad it worked out for you in the end and that you had an enjoyable time, as well as coming away with lots of signed books. Congrats!

EDIT: Thank you, Alan! Great deal, Becca.

Great stories and posts - and I would really appreciate TN if you would stop rubbing in the fact that I had 4 more books with me to possibly get signed (and I did not) - had to appease the family - plus with their help I was able to get 3 books signed - so a trade off of sorts...very hectic day back to work - but I will post some pics of the signed/inscribed books from the past 2 events - if anything just to keep TN quiet about my failure as a true signee slut.

I am happy and jealous for all who were able to go to a signing. As it is his last book tour, getting signed copies of any future books may take a bit of work. Getting the boat load of books that you all got signed is awesome. Enjoy each and every one of them.

Back to the collectible side ...

Ocean at the End of the Lane - the Goldsboro edition if anyone hasn't seen it yet (700 copies)

Now neil said he wasn't signing memorabilia anymore - but I had picked these up a couple weeks back (my second set), and pretty cheap at that...wanna guess why?

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll123/chadtarter/Gaiman/NGsigning11_zps3ca9615a.jpg

Yep - he's missing part of the arm - but that's okay because I wanted it for this:

These next two were just on a passing whim - my wife really enjoyed the reading and wanted to listen to neil tell his stories. That gave me an excuse to pick up his books on CD (that means I will have these burned onto my computer/iPhone). I've found some really good deals lately, and amazon will have some super low priced audio books released this September -

http://www.amazon.com/Stardust-Low-Price-Neil-Gaiman/dp/0062314327/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1373446382&sr=8-2&keywords=gaiman+audiobook+stardust

So there are a few of these low priced releases
http://www.amazon.com/American-Gods-Low-Price-MP3/dp/0062314297/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373446460&sr=1-1&keywords=Gaiman+low+price+cd

http://www.amazon.com/Neverwhere-Low-Price-Neil-Gaiman/dp/0062314319/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373446512&sr=1-3&keywords=Gaiman+low+price+cd

http://www.amazon.com/Anansi-Boys-Low-Price-CD/dp/0062314300/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373446554&sr=1-4&keywords=Gaiman+low+price+cd

You can't find audiobooks much cheaper than this (not even on eBay - although I did find an anansi boys for $5). I did splurge a little and pick these 2 up:

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll123/chadtarter/Gaiman/NGsigning18_zpsa5410fd6.jpg

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll123/chadtarter/Gaiman/NGsigning16_zpsaeb35bc2.jpg

These are both signed on the inserts (not the cd case)

cit74
07-10-2013, 01:13 AM
Okay one last thing then I'm done for this morning. I agree with Eric that getting newly released signed books might become a bit tougher - and we will have to be on the lookout for who sells copies of his pre-signed copies. I hadn't seen this one in any posts yet. I didn't have enough time to get all my first signed - but I found this on eBay:

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll123/chadtarter/Gaiman/NGsigning14_zps6f0fcc21.jpg

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll123/chadtarter/Gaiman/NGsigning15_zps17dad679.jpg

So if you don't have a signed anansi boys - you can be on the watch for this one. Maybe someone will be selling signed copies of fortunately the milk - I haven't seen any offers yet - but it might be worth calling some of the book sellers that had promos for chu's day. Anyone remember where he had that big signing for the release?

ELazansky
07-10-2013, 01:55 AM
Really nice stuff, Chad. That doublle-signed Good Omens is awesome. I'm glad you were able to get that one.

The Chu's Day signing was at Books of Wonder. I doubt there will be pre-signed copies for "Milk", as there usually aren;t for his kids books. Plus, with the amount of signing he has done on the Ocean tour, he probably needs a break.

I don't know if there is a finer book out there. At least among the "genre" small press books we all love and collect. In terms of design and materials and craftsmanship- it is the high watermark for me.

So you know Angela just mysteriously appeared in the Marvel Universe last month, right? Weird. (Neil's gonna co-write Guardians of the Galaxy with Bendis. Still kinda weird.)

I have a question that I'll place under spoiler tag just in case. It is in reference to American Gods and Anansi Boys.

I listened to the audiobook of Anansi Boys and am currently listening to the audiobook of American Gods. Is Nanci (sp?) the same "god" in both books? Or is the name a coincidence?

You can usually find a deal on all the trades on eBay - or amazon has a set. To be honest though - I'd check out the prices on the absolutes (I think you can still get them around 65-75 each) and go that route. There are 5 in the sandman series and then you add death - so 6 total absolute editions.

Or you can do it in one fell swoop:

Awesome! I really like that first issue as an old-school English Occult story, but if you find it too simple or wonder what the big deal is, keep in mind that the series evolves tremendously over the 75 issues. It really didn't find it's voice until Death appears in #8.

So I will be happy to be the point man on this - just pm torben (lauterer) if you want a copy (and he is able to get one) - I will pay all up front book and shipping charges and divide them equally once we get a final count. I figure we should let him know in next 1-2 days so this doesn't drag on and he's not out too much out of pocket. Btw - once you have all book costs I can cover that before you figure out shipping if you would like.

I thinks the middle price will be around 13-20 Dollars or something like that without shipping to US! I will NOT spend more than 15€(19$) for one book&case. But bought also some far under 10€ today. I think the cheapest one was around 5€(6,6$)! AND i will only buy the books&cases that seem to be in vg or mint condition!

Hello everyone,

while building my NG collection of limited editions, i found a few books which were sold out at the publisher but still available in the bookstores at the original publication price (or very close to it).

I use this site http://www.neilgaimanbibliography.com/books.html to verify the original prices

M for magic Limited Edition by Subterrenean Press - $60, https://camelotbooks.com/books/detail/m-is-for-magic (lettered is avaibale as well)

Mirror Mask Limited Edition by Subterrenean Press - $125, https://camelotbooks.com/books/detail/mirrormask (lettered is avaibale as well)

Anansi Boys, Hill House, Signed Limited (PC) -250$, http://www.nightfallbooks.com/catalog/anansiboys.html (not sure about Notebook)

America Gods, Signed, By Eastom Press - 100$, http://www.eastonpressbooks.com/leather/product.asp?code=2820

The Ocean At The End Of The Lane Deluxe Signed Edition - 104 CAD, http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0062265083/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What do you think of it, Eric? I got mine yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised- it's much nicer than I thought it would be. The slipcase is extremely well made, and the book itself is beautifully designed. I'm hit and miss with Mckean's design work these days, but I think this is a case where it all works beautifully. There is so much color here, on glossy thick coated paper stock. The only thing I'm on the fence on is the unjacketed printed boards. Never a big fan of that, but... all in all- this might even be actually better than the super limited British edition.

I really love this edition. I agree with everything you said. The slipcase is amazing and thicker than regular ones. You're right, the front boards work perfectly with the case. I love the glossy paper stock. Kind of gives me that graphic novel feel. I like the art scattered throughout the book. I paged through it and it all just seems to work together. I really don't mind the "no dust jacket" thing - I guess I am getting used to it with some other UK editions. From what I have seen, this looks to be the best edition of the book. Yeah, I know the super mega ultra deluxe has a much smaller limitation. I still think this edition has much more going for it.

ha ha - that was a question i actually wrote for the gaiman signing - he never answered that one. From the link i posted in the joe hill thread this morning (joe reading the UK version) - there was a fold-out/fold-up picture - which might not be in the US edition - it can be ordered from the amazon uk site - I ordered one of each - since I was curious.

So you could just wait until i get mine and then I could tell you the difference - since the price will not go up that much

That's kind of what I figured. I guess I will preorder the UK one and then take a look at the US one at Barnes and Noble once it comes out. I really didn't want to start adding UK first editions to my Gaiman collection, but if the whole feel of the book is different, especially with the different illustrators, it would make for an interesting pairing.

I think it will be very difficult to get any future Gaiman first editions signed in the future. If he is not going to tour, the only books that might be available are the pre-signed copies like American Gods and Anansi Boys. Just my thoughts.

Speaking of pre-signed books, my local Target had signed copies of the latest books by Brad Thor and Janet Evanovich. Pretty odd seeing signed books just sitting on a Target shelf.

This was the "secret" book I posted about. I thought about it since and don't think I can justify $200. One thing though, if they're trying to raise money, shouldn't they be advertising the book more? I've known about it for at least a month and it's still available. I'm sure one post from Gaiman on his website would do wonders for sales.

It is for a good cause, but I am not a completist, so I can let it go. With such a large collection of authors, I'm sure they will sell the 60 copies. As we know from SK books, anthologies don't usually hold a lot of value, but this one may be different since the limitation is so small. Seeing how the issue price was roughly $50 plus shipping from the UK, it is a really good value. The listing doesn't show a picture, but their email newsletter clearly states that this is the edition from Goldsboro:

"Gaiman, Neil. The Ocean at the End of the Lane (Special UK Signed Numbered Edition with slipcase, $66.00). Thanks to our friends at Goldsboro Books in London for producing this great edition."

Weird....when I bring up the webpage, it has the placeholder with "No Cover Available." Oh well, no big deal really, as long as everyone knows it is the Goldsboro edition if they need it.

OK, so now the collectibles are starting to get obscure....here is Horror: 100 Best Books from 1988. I love the old limited editions that had no signature pages. Everyone signed it like it was a high school yearbook. You can see Neil's signature right in the center above Lisa Tuttle:

Neil has an event on 15 oct at Westminster in London - it was announced on 17 August and is already sold out. They're looking at adding seats - so if you are in London check it out

http://www.timeout.com/london/things-to-do/neil-gaiman-and-special-guests-fortunately-the-milk

It's a full reading of fortunately the milk - with a special edition of the book just for the event, Chris Riddell will be drawing during the event, there's music too and guests. It's not a signing - but Neil mentions that there will be signed copies of the book already signed for purchase. Check out full details here:

http://journal.neilgaiman.com/

Wish I could goto this one. Imagine some of these books might turn up on eBay shortly after the 15th. If any of our UK friends are able to go - I'd love to get one of them :)

Opinions on the Annotated Sandmans?

I never looked at them, although I do have a couple of books about the sandman - that make a good companion to the stories and would be a lot cheaper than getting the whole annotated series. Your money would be better spent upgrading to the absolutes - you can sell off the set I traded you - and pick up one of the other sandman companion books.

I do a lot of digging. I search on eBay for "gaiman signed" in the descriptions, not just the titles. Sometimes, a listing will come up and it will have all of the info, including pictures. If there are no pics, I will usually ask the seller to verify. I do similar searches on ABE as well, but sometimes, trying to contact those sellers takes a while. I scan through all of the listings on the Virtual Bibliography under Books, since most of the time, the description will let me know if it was a S/L edition. I have even used the Wayback Machine - http://archive.org/web/web.php - to go back in time and check on the original listings for books. When I heard about this one, I saw a listing on eBay with no other info. I usually hate bidding on items. I'd rather just buy it outright and be done. I found out it was published by PS Publishing in 2002. So I used the Wayback Machine to search PS Publishing's website in 2002. I found the original page, but it still didn't mention if it was signed by NG. I checked around my online bookstores and saw Camelot had the book listed for issue price. I asked Kim and she confirmed it was signed. You just have to really search hard.

Right from GRRM blog http://grrm.livejournal.com/337021.html

New Mexicans, mark down Sunday, September 29 in your calendars.

That's the date of our next big special event at the Jean Cocteau Cinema: the Neil and Amanda Show

Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are coming to Santa Fe, and we've got them!

What actually goes on during the Neil and Amanda Show, you may ask? Well, there will be music, stories, autographing, and... you'll need to come and find out.

That's Sunday, September 29, starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are on sale RIGHT NOW.

Admission will be $75, except for the nine (9) seats in our front row, which will go for $100.

This is a charity event, and one hundred per cent of the box office will be split between two worthy causes: Warehouse 21 and its youth programs http://www.warehouse21.org/ , and the Food Depot, which helps feed hungry New Mexicans http://www.thefooddepot.org/ So help us raise some much-needed funds for these great causes, and spend a Sunday evening with Neil and Amanda.

(Yes, they will gladly sign your books and CDs, and we'll have lots of both for sale on site).

We expect another sellout for this one, so if you'd like to attend, get your seats early. You can get a ticket via the Jean Cocteau website, or by calling us at 505-466-5528. (Have your credit card ready). No more than four (4) tickets per customer, please.

Remember, the Cocteau only seats 120.
See you at the show.

Here is my exchange with Foyles Booksh in regards with limited edition slipcased adult cover copy of Fortunately, the Milk.

Dear ...

I'm afraid we cannot guarantee limited copies from events, as this entirely depends on popularity on the night. Any limited copies up for sale will be advertised on our website the next day.

As the Neil Gaiman event is also an external event (most of our events take place in our Gallery on the 3rd floor of our Charing Cross Road branch, but this event is hosted elsewhere), we have even less control over how many special editions, if any, we'll have.

I'm sorry for not being able to be more specific, but do check our website, www.foyles.co.uk, for availability after the event. Any limited editions we'll have should appear on our website early the next day.

With kind regards

Brit

How do you do, lads?

I have a quick question about limited edition slipcased adult cover copy of Fortunately, the Milk. I live in Canada and unfortunately cannot attend this event. Nevertheless I don't mind to paid 20 gbp + shipment for the limited edition slipcased adult cover copy of Fortunately, the Milk.
Could it be arranged?
Thanks in advanced, Alex.

I'm getting tired of chasing down all of these special editions - what is this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neil-Gaiman-Fortunately-The-Milk-Double-Signed-And-Numbered-/231054266706?pt=Children_s_Young_Adult_s_Fiction&hash=item35cbe85152 -- it is stamped and numbered at the bottom. Is this the one Foyles will be selling at the event, or is this something else?

News from SubPress:

http://subterraneanpress.com/news/neil_gaiman_updatesmoke_and_mirrors_interworld

Here's the first look at Jon Foster's interior color art for Interworld—he'll be braving the same duty for The Silver Dream, as well. Once all of the art is in house, we can finalize design elements, design signature pages, etc. This pair of limiteds is taking a bit longer than we anticipated, but the books will be worth the wait.

Speaking of waiting, we have the best update yet on Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors. Just yesterday, our regular designer, Gail Cross received the files from Dave McKean. She's doing a bit of cleanup work, and then we'll have to proofread the book a few times. The signature pages are already signed and in house. I can predict, quite happily, that Smoke and Mirrors will be out in the spring. And it will be gorgeous.

I think that one is different than the Foyles edition - since that one says only available that night and has a special "adult" cover and slipcased - who the hell knows how many different versions Neil is putting out there. It seems odd that he's doing this for a kids book - when he regularly does not have this variety of editions for a new release. I guess Bloomsbury is just having fun and putting some variety out there.

So a few new Gaiman items - nothing signed but might interest a few.

My UK Fortunately the Milk arrived (from amazon.co.uk)
Also his audio books are being re-released and pretty cheap - Stardust - read by Neil arrived today.
Lastly is the BBC radio full cast dramatisation of Neverwhere - I only heard the first episode on BBC radio - missed the rest and they never replayed it...because they released it on CD - you can get it from the book depository - free shipping:

Its possible that this is the signed/numbered edition of 500 as listed here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/290979723064?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. Usually, Waterstones puts one of their stickers on their books, so they could have a completely different issue. Plus we have the upcoming Foyle's edition. This novel is certainly milking my bank account :rolleyes3:

Curious to see what it turns out to be. It may just be a flat-signed book. It may be numbered. Certainly a good price either way. I'm satisfied with the price I paid for the numbered eBay listing.

I agree, the UK is definitely milking it - or us. I already have a flat signed and one of the stamped/numbered ones (which have a stamp of a milk carton or a drawn milk carton - will not be able to tell until I have it in hand - since the milk carton on the lower right corner is not on the regular edition - and the two I have seen look slightly different - leading me to believe that Riddell drew them in the books).

Not to mention the magical Foyles edition.

The seller on ebay bought his copies online - but would not tell me from which site. SO there are placed in the UK selling the signed/numbered books - it is just a little too difficult for me to figure out (unlike my magic with NOS4a2)

Hey Page,

i should've said "Thank for sharing" before complaining...
So here it goes" "Thank you for sharing", sorry for being rude.

On another note, Google cache shows that this edition WAS available since (at least) Aug-30-2013...
I searched and searched and searched for this book on Google at that time and Waterstones site never came up...
Well, now i have 3 UK bookshops to monitor for "Exclusive (to bookshop) limited editions"
www.goldsborobooks.com
www.waterstones.com
www.foyles.co.uk

Can you think of anything else worth monitoring?
Thanks!

Like you said it's pretty similar to what Goldsboro has done. Since no more signing tours it can be tough to get them otherwise. As an aside i will probably have 2-3 extra copies of the s/n ones if anyone is interested - just send a pm. I should have them in hand in about 2 wks (although I will be on vacation then). Nothing really extra - but a fun read and well illustrated - although the us and uk versions are really different in terms of the character illustrations

"A little tradegy on ebay.com" :)

Yesterday at 5:12pm an auction for "Snow Glass Apple" S/L by Biting Dog ended at wooping $229.
Price at publication - $130.
The item was on ebay for 5 days (or so) at $70.
The price climbed from 70 to 229 in a last minute.
Good for the seller of a beatiful book, bad for me who bidded $130 in a naive attemp to snatch it at publication price.
Life goes on...

BTW: this is how I was tought to buy on ebay: set the highest price I'm willing to pay and bid at the last 10 seconds.
Does it make sense? Does anyone have better approach?
Thanks!

That is definitely the best way to buy on Ebay. I never bid before the last 3 seconds of an auction and only bid what I am willing to pay. That keeps some emotion out of the process

Mine just arrived and it's the same as yours but Gaiman signed in pink. A little underwhelming for a "limited edition" but if you consider it's just the trade edition but double signed and stamped, it's not a bad deal at all. With shipping it came to a few bucks more than what an unsigned trade would cost at Chapters.

some Neil Gaiman news:

first - overture (the sandman) prelude will start at the end of this month

second: if you are in SF - the comic art museum will have a special sandman gallery running until 16 march

third - this is one i am extremely excited about - one of my favorite comic stories was miracleman - initially written by alan moore in the 80's - first 16 issues - then carried on by gaiman from 17-24 - but it was left incomplete - gaiman wanted to finish his planned 3 arcs - but only got 2 issues into second arc - this has been a legal battle for years (one reason that gaiman does not like mcfarlane very much - and the start of the comic book defense fund) - anyway - it will finally see the light of day - with new re-print starting in january - plus new stories - and i think gaiman will finish his arcs as well - i will just wait until the series is finished and get whatever deluxe, oversized, omnibus, signed edition comes out. btw i recently sold a spare complete run of 1-24 and the warrior magazine run for over $500 - so i think the value on my other copies should go up now that more people will see this and be looking for originals? any thoughts on that?

4th - and most important for the collectors here - the gaiman foyles event for fortunately the milk was yesterday in the UK:
there were 1500 of the exclusive, signed. slipcased books in print, 2000 people at the event. the books are about GBP 15-16 and shipping is GBP 20 for first book if tracked/insured or GBP 7 if untracked - and then GBP 3 for each additional book - no matter what method. They are not up on the website yet - but expected to be later today or tomorrow - some computer glitch and they do not have all of the copies in the store yet - plus some will go directly to their stores for sale as well I presume. Unsure if its a book plate or flat signed - they are sealed. I actually called (since I had emailed customer service last night and received a nice email this morning). I ordered a few copies using the tracking option. The woman I spoke with thought that there might be around 400 copies available and she was unsure of limitation to orders. so check out the foyles website if interested.

5th - i received my signed books from the harvard store - and just fyi the US fortunately the milk is already in its third printing (since that is the copy I received) - of well - it'll be a nice reading/signed copy.

arrgghh it's been awhile since i just got back from vacation and hit the ground running. so there is my gaiman update.

just got my books in today - I can post a picture later - but it is just similar to the one on the foyles website. I have 3 extra copies - in case anyone is interested - just PM - i can sell at cost plus $4 for shipping (in US) - or you can order directly from their site. The woman I spoke with said there were 1500 of these printed - they are just signed - not numbered. The "slipcase" is fairly flimsy - but what do you expect for that price. I have to check and see if the book is any different that the regular Bloomsbury edition.

Wow. At some point- a line has to be drawn; after purchasing all the original individual comic "magazines", the trade paperbacks, the individual hardcovers, the "ABSOLUTE" 5 volumes, the ANNOTATED volumes (2 so far)- I was seriously considering purchasing the "regular" OMNIBUS editions (@ $200.00).... but I can't and won't drop $500 on this- as cool as it looks.

I guess it should be noted, however, that this is the only (Ahem..so far) SIGNED LIMITED EDITION of SANDMAN ever produced....

Here you go Sandman lovers - http://www.shopdcentertainment.com/jump.do?itemID=5&itemType=LANDING&cid=Sandman&ref=TWTDCSAND110813

Eric knows my weakness and sent this to me earlier. I caved…I was never interested in the annotated books nor the other omnibus books. So I will see how nice these look up close

I agree 100%. I love the way the set looks, but I can't see spending more money for another Sandman collection, even though this is the only signed edition. Plus, I really need the cash for the holiday season.

Actually, with the timing of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving, I'm thinking of just wrapping some leftover turkey up as presents this year...

I had to buy it. I have signed copies of all of the Absolute editions and not having this would feel like a huge gap in my collection. That said, $500 was tough to swallow

A Handful of Dust: 25 Years of Sandman
November 23, 2013 - December 8, 2013

Join us in celebrating the 25th year anniversary of The Sandman, a comic book series written by Neil Gaiman. The world of comic books was a very different place before The Sandman came into being. Chronicling the adventures of Dream, a fantastical character who is both lord and personification of all dreams and stories, the series enjoyed a run of 75 issues, from October 1988 until March 1996. The Sandman became a cult success for DC Comics and attracted an audience unlike that of mainstream comics -- by the time the series concluded in 1996, it was outselling the titles of DC's flagship characters of Superman and Batman. Neil Gaiman revolutionized the graphic novel form with The Sandman, an exquisite epic filled with shadowy realism and strange magical beings.

Gallery Nucleus presents a roster of artists who contributed to the groundbreaking series during its acclaimed run, along with tribute art from some of our other favorites.

A huge arse box arrived from DC today - on front looks like #78 of the sandman omnibus - have not had a chance to open it yet - plus it's a Hanukkah gift for me - which starts next week (crazy early). I am tempted to open it and make sure the condition is okay - although waiting a week isn't horrible - but then you'll all have to wait to see pics (unless someone else posts sooner).

Beautiful set, but $500? That's close to be a King price ... And when signed paperback are being sold for $7.99, that's quite a big jump.

For anyone who ordered the Mister October S/L, Chris Payne told me the books are at the printer right now and he hopes to have them shipped out by the 2nd week of Decemberr. The original limitation was only going to be 60 copies, but I think they bumped it up to 80. Still a very small number of sets. Should be a nice anthology with a lot of signatures.

A few new arrivals today:

This was a Kickstarter edition. Since I do not believe all 500 s/l copies were sold, I am wondering if Borderlands Press will sell them directly at some point:

And this is one I have been trying to find for a long time. Usually, the prices are a bit high in my opinion. Finally found one at a great price (the signatures are on a different page than the limitation page):

The Hogben Chronicles is avaialble on http://borderlandspress.com/hbc.html.
Now look here: Numbered Signed Limited Edition: 50US, Lettered Leatherbound/Traycased (Signed):100US.
Compare to Kickstarter prices (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/195826489/the-hogben-chronicles-of-henry-kuttner)
Numbered Signed Limited Edition: 125US, Lettered Leatherbound/Traycased (Signed):300US.
While Kickstarter editions include additional perks, they hardly justify 150%-200% difference in price.

Is this not the great way to discorage people from participating in Kickstarter projects?
Or it's just me being cheap talking... Not sure.
