It's my favorite in a series of cds called Mondo Morricone - it's all "pop arrangements" that Morricone did in the 60s/early 70s, and some of it is really beautiful ("Rodeo" and "Dal Mare" are 2 of the best on this one). There is also a lot of groovy, jet-setting-in-the-sixties style stuff that's great if you're in the mood for it.

Amazon.com: Molto Mondo Morricone, Vol. 3: Libero Tosoni, Ennio Morricone, Bruno Nicolai, Nicola Samale, Roberto Gatto, Vincenzo Restuccia, Alessandro Alessandroni, Anraldo Graziosi, Enrico Pieranunzi, Oscar Valdambrini, Edda dell' Orso, Edda dell'Orso, Giulia deMutis: Music

I know what you mean about the Dollars trilogy music, it can still give me chills.

Thanks for the info! I'm acquiring 3 (that's all I could find, hopefully there's only 3 volumes...) And yeah, the dollars trilogy... phew... Transports me to another world every time!

Right now I'm listening to the Prologue from Tangerine Dream's score for the movie Legend (one of my all time favorite fantasy flicks from the 80s). Most prefer the European cut with the Jerry Goldsmith score... but I grew up with the American cut and that's what I prefer! Makes me feel like a kid again.

LOL.

It's amazing, because now you even have indie rock bands that are completely appropriating Dylan's style.

There was one I heard the other day on my city's "alternative" rock station, and until I heard the DJ identify the band I thought I had just listened to Bob Dylan.

a. joe walsh is awesome (though i will not listen to his work with the eagles because, well, i hate the fucking eagles man.)

2. you are right on the money about the current trend in aping dylan's style. as someone who has always been a fan of dylan's voice, i like the idea that he still has an impact.

np:

the man in me - bob dylan

(no choice really, i talked about dylan and referenced the big lebowski in a single post, what other song could i put on next?)

Co-sign!

Almost all of the Eagles songs that I do like were written or sung by people who eventually left the band, e.g. the theme song for the BBC television adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

It astounds me that that group is the most popular band, by sales, at least, in the history of American rock music.

it's mostly for the brilliant version of albert ayler's "bells" that i put this on.

it's somewhat different than the way marc plays "bells" with the spiritual unity band, and wholly different than the way ayler's bands played it, though i see the straight line through all of them as well.

spiritual unity was always marc's prime outlet for the ayler covers but this shrek band always did a great job with the ayler material too.

i have a feeling other versions of "bells" will be following
