Lynch
Lynch.
But I would vote for Ed Wood before I would Kubrick. I know he has contributed to the film making world, but his films are torturous to me.

b-b-bump
I wonder why out of the 7 people who voted for Kubrick only one owned up?..

I voted for Kubrick too. Lynch's work is disturbingly unique, but Kubrick has crafted indelible masterpieces of cinema. 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove - such a powerful and varied body of work.
I liked Dr.Strangelove, especially Peter Sellers, especially as Captain Mandrake
Kubrick is god. End the poll.

Kubrick, I expect him to make it to the top 3 at least.
I respect Kubrick, although I don't really like him; but it just seems unfair that Lynch is left behind in the first round...

Well in all honestly, my vote might not should count since I have not seen any Lynch movies.

Upon further investigation, I have seen Twin Peaks, and would have voted for anything else based upon my opinion of that.
yes, if the only one I'd seen was Twin Peaks I would have voted for Kubrick twice.

Nor do I. It's such a beautiful film isn't it.
I think he definitely deserves to make it past the first round. It's a shame.
I somehow don't think we can get 9 more votes by Thursday... I wish we could

I've been in and out, love, (insert A Clockwork Orange joke here), but I am one of the Kubrick votes. Very difficult choice. I almost didn't vote at all since I didn't get a chance to vote in N proper. However, since I would've voted for SK originally, I decided that it would be appropriate to vote on the tie.

That's one of the few I haven't seen!

I respect Kubrick, although I don't really like him...Same here. No matter how important you think he was, it's not as great as what he thought of himself.
2001 leaves me cold. (Except for HAL) I could criticize quite a bit about Kubrick's films... Still, he had undeniable talent, and made some that I definitely like: Dr. Strangelove (Sellers was always great; also George C. Scott character) Full Metal Jacket, (especially the first half) Barry Lyndon. I feel that Lynch is making a decent showing here, given tastes shown by our other polls (and previous TGT contests.) He's great, but it's not that surprising. As for me, however... well, I first saw The Elephant Man when I was, like, 11... and I happen to be a fanatic even for "Twin Peaks" -- although I agree that it's certainly not the best thing he ever made. If Lynch somehow passed Kubrick by Thursday, I'd be all for that.

I LOVE Kubrick. I mean most wh know me knows ACO is one of my favorite movies of all time. My vote goes to Lynch though. I love everything he does.
well... as one of the characters in a Russian children's movie said when they were trying to scoop the water out of a swamp with buckets, only 850 bucketfuls to go and the golden key is ours...
Nine more Lynch voters? Pretty please?

I'm actually kinda relieved i missed this vote. That is the unfairest of all imaginable pairings. Both men are mad geniuses.
I anticipate some more inconceivably unfair pairings in the future
I also wish you hadn't missed, and voted for Lynch...

I probably would have, as I just watched inland Empire last night...
The main problem with this contest, as has already been said, is that people haven't watched enough movies. I mean, if we do this on a regular basis, and everybody who loves cinema works on enlightening people about their favorite directors in between, the picture might change from year to year... or not.
