AAB. Great book.

Same here. The ending, while fast and furious, was somewhat of a letdown. The whole gangbang thing, I didn't get it.

The whole gangbang thing, I didn't get it.What I didn't get was why the ending wasn't being graded so well here, until you said that. I guess it is somewhat unclear to me in most cases what exactly is included in "the ending" of some given book. That, I would have called a minor event near the ending... but it's always so hard to tell.

AAB. I agree with Pablo the gangbang thing was just weird.

All A's. A can't believe that anyone would give this book a B for character development. Really? This book has better character development than ANY other book I can think of.

Completely agree. I actually include the climax when I rate a book's ending. And this one, yeah...the gangbang and the final form and the egg situation. It just didn't work for me.

I gave this an A for an ending (one of only two that I did) because of how I felt when it was over. I didn't want it to BE over (and not because I thought it was incomplete, I just didn't want to not be reading it anymore).

AAA.

One of his best works, if not his best.

Definitely one of my favorites, and I'm always having to reread it just to revisit the characters, but I think I've only read all the way to the end a couple of times. The ending is just...I don't have words. I don't think it's TERRIBLE, it just does nothing for me. Pretty disappointing compared to the rest (not that I know how I would have preferred it to end).

I completely agree :couple:

I would hope so, since Stephen King meant it to be a coming of age tale....

You can have character developement without a coming of age component...

...I actually include the climax when I rate a book's ending. ...Well, that would be The Ritual of Chüd-- the final showdown between It and Bill (with Richie). Some of the greatest writing ever!

I thought the entire final part of the novel was too deus-ex-machiney. The preceding action was superb, though. I do not, however, rate this book as my Top 5 (or even 10, probably).

True, but you can't have a coming of age component without character development....

Yeah, I'm including that. Lol. I didn't think it was terrible, but it left me surprisingly underwhelmed.

I thought the ending was very very very sad. Brutal even.
The fact that you cant remember your best friends for the rest of your life is so very sad to me.

One thing I hated most about the T.V. miniseries was how underwhelming the climax of it was compared to the novel. Of the latter, I repeat that it was some of the best writing of King's career and a true milestone in horror literature in general.
