Going with Shawshank.
Though I loved Stand By Me ... Shawshank is a classic in my eyes, and so very re-watchable.

Agreed
Since a few months ago Shawshank was voted the best movie of all times, I expect it to walk away with it now... voted Stand By Me.

Kubrick's version of The Shining.
To me, it's not even a contest, although Cat's Eye, Stand by Me and Misery are all phenomenal screenplays, and fantastically acted films.
I loved The Green Mile, but I think I have to go with Shawshank. One of the best prison films ever, and then add King's name to it.
I haven't seen a lot of these. :ninja:
So I'm voting The Mist. But I've heard Shawshank is the best by like, everyone. lol

The Mist is horrible.
Marcia Gay Harden-the biggest stiff in Hollywood this side of George Clooney-portraying the archetypal crazy church lady. The black guy from Homicide portraying an angry black guy.
It was so poorly written and predictable that I stopped watching after an half hour.

The Shining!
Kubrick's version of The Shining.
Tough choice, but I had to go with The Shining as well. :couple:
There are some great films up there, but this has always been one of my all-time favorites.

The last scene of it has always been one of my favorite moments in movie history.

I disagree. And maybe this is because I saw the movie before reading the novella, but I was captivated from beginning to end.

exactly this.
Shawshank is clearly the winner here; it's well deserved, of course, only bears are sorry Stand by Me has received so few votes so far...
Too bad I'm the only one to vote for Pet Sematary. I think that film captures the feel of a Stephen King novel best of all.

When up against a film like Shawshank, it's no surprise that Stand By Me got so few votes. Both are excellent examples of Kings work translated to the screen, but Shawshank was the better film.

I watched it until the end and I'm sure you wouldn't have liked it. The end is actually the most predictable part of it all.
