The Talisman and Black House... the only two King stories that I have never opened. I don't know why, I just never have.

Never read. Didn't care much for the Talisman though.
Neither do I; BH is, however, something completely different

all As, of course... though the ending is kinda A minus (the very last piece is kinda corny-ish, never really liked that female, especially not the way she talked)

Never read. Didn't care much for the Talisman though.

I didn't like The Talisman or the first half of Black House.

The SECOND half, though....

Kinda tricky to judge the ending, because it's so complicated. This is one of those books with nested endings. Not always the best technique, really. First there's the victorious ending suitable for an epic, heroic romance, which we're told that we can stop with.Hey, we were warned that we might not like it. lol. Again, we're asked to let the ending of this be the ending. "Let's leave them hoping."The language is kind of corny, as is the fact that this is mostly exposition, setting up the next sequel. That DID leave most of us wanting more, tho. This ending ends with Speedy simply saying, "Ka." Pretty powerful... if we hadn't heard it several times before. All this was was just the authors committing themselves to how and why of Jack's revival. I must admit it's nice to know that there'll be no twists or suspense about that! They can just move on.Altogether, the intended effect of all these seems to be creating a sense of endlessness. For the middle volume of a series, that's not such a bad idea. I would have preferred something stronger, but I do think that what they did worked okay here. :orely:

BBB. This one just didn't do it for me like The Talisman did.
