Please, do not confuse this book with the similarly-titled novella in Four Past Midnight. This was a problem the last time. I know it's an obscure Book of the Month Club book, but it evens things out.

HEAR, HEAR!

and, guys - if you do confuse it with the novella, vote by mistake and then realize that it was a mistake - please don't hesitate to tell it to pablo or bears, and we will amend the poll.

Never read. I'm one of the people that confused it last year. And I still have not read this one.

Are the contents of this book published elsewhere? This and his baseball book are two I doubt I'd ever bother seeking out, I guess.

I didn't notice the link before sorry. That looks like it might be more interesting than I was thinking, but I have a hunch I'll never run into it used.

I shall have to hunt down a copy of this book if only to read the short story "In the Deathroom".

Actually, In The Deathroom is collected in Everything's Eventual.

As for Secret Windows, it's really not that hard to find (eBay) and I promise you, it's a good read!

I've read Everything's Eventual, I guess I just don't remember that title.

This was the first time In the Deathroom was published. Before it used to be an audiobook exclusive story (like Ur now is an ebook/audiobook-exclusive story). Also, the Dave's Rag stories are great. King's childhood writings, very fun stuff.

I think King really knows the craft and I enjoy reading his thoughts on things. I don't quite remembar this one as strongly as On Writing, so in fairness, if that one gets a 5, this one rates a 4. It could possibly be a 5 upon re-reading.

I re-read King's essay 'On Becoming A Brand Name' yesterday (also included in this book) and I re-loved it, too ;)

The poll has closed. Secret Windows has earned a FAS (final average score) of 3.545454545 or 70.91%, placing 3rd in this bracket. It will not be moving on to Round 2. In 2009, Secret Windows placed 5th (last; in Bracket #10) with a FAS of 3.142857143, so it gained 0.402597402 (+12.81%) this time.

More than 50% Never Read... man, that's gotta affect the relevance of the results. We can just say that it did better than TGwLTG among folken who've read it, correct?

I somehow missed the vote on this one. I liked it, but can't remember much about it aside from that fact. Would have given it a 4. I generally like anything I've read about writing from King.

The NR votes don't really affect the results in any way. True, the less people vote overall, the less precise the final score will be, but we can hardly force folks to vote :)

Right, of course not. But, I mean, averaged opinons of 33 people who've read this book gets compared equally to an average of 65 readers of TGwLTG... and you expect to find a wider divergence of opinions when there's a larger audience. All I'm saying is that that seems like an interesting wrinkle.
(Plus, I'm still annoyed that there's a book in here that I haven't read! :P )
