Not my absolute favourite, but awesome nonetheless. Took me a long time to read the big bastard, though!

Another 5 from me, I think!

I gave it a two. I'm not a big fan. I'm planning on doing a reread eventually, so maybe next year my opinion will improve. I doubt it, though.

I'm not quite as enamored with It as most King fans but a good solid 4 from me. Loved the characters and especially the parts when they are kids. The plot, well, to me the basic premise was fascinating but there were parts I felt that King was pulling stuff right out of his ass ("making it up as you go"). Hard to put my finger on it, but something was just a little off. And the ending. Not a fan. But still I've read it several times to revisit the characters (as opposed to the plot).

5. In short, my favorite book......by anyone.

I really do hope you enjoy more on your second read.

My dad gave me this book to read when I was 14, and it was (and still is) the scariest book I have ever read. Conversely, it was turned into the worst movie adaptation of any book I've ever seen.

This is by far my favorite King book. I freaking adore all of the characters and miss them.

It just didn't do "it" for me.

03-16-2010, 12:46 AM
Thats because you were too busy doing "It" on your own.:P

My very first hardback. I was 13 or 14 and mum bought it for my birthday.

I read IT in 2 days - devoured IT, loved IT

This is one of those books that if you didn't like it, I assume you're INSANE. :scared: 5!

wait, wait, Daghain isn't insane, she is one of the sanest people known to bears!

...though, Irish Dawn, bears have yet to hear your argumentation.........

Well, considering I basically just screamed "5", I may be insane myself. :D

Last night I thought I might enjoy seeing the TV version of It again, not having seen it since it was basically new, and having read the book three times or more since seeing it. Well, I couldn't stand it. The cast is just unbearable, long before they even all appear I turned it off. The thought of my memory of the book being colored by the film is enough to keep me away from it for the rest of my life.

What? Jonathan Brandis was in there!! I miss him so much :(

The best of the best. Right up there with Salem's Lot as my favorite King book.

For me, the continual deadlock is between It and The Waste Lands.
Anyway, It is a true masterpiece; a huge benchmark in the career of SK, and in the course of American literaure.
