Best Couple--Nominations Closed

This thread is for members to nominate pairs of characters for the Award for Best Couple. In order for a pair of characters to be eligible for nomination they must be characters appearing in one of the published works of Stephen King. Characters appearing in works originally published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman are also eligible. The term “couple” is defined as: a pair of characters showing romantic interest or commitment toward each other in one of King’s literary works.

To nominate a pair of characters for this category, simply post your choices in this thread. In order for a couple to be placed onto the voting ballot for the Award the nominated couple must be seconded and thirded, also in this thread. This is to ensure that we do not have an overly long list of contenders for the Award, and that--by virtue of the nomination process--each couple listed on the ballot is guaranteed to have at least something of a following come voting time. Please note that you MUST clearly state in your post that you are seconding or thirding a nomination for it to count. Feel free to deliberate and discuss your choices in this thread.

While you may second or third a nomination more than once, we ask that there be only one new nomination per member.

i just think there are better couples around and thought i would mention that i am disappointed that those 2 are going through

They are my nominees this time, as they were the last time... Think of that moment when Ben was writing that haiku to her... and then of how he was true to her all his life... and, after all, grownup Beverly is grownup Beverly; what's not to like about her?

dont get me wrong, i loved Ben. But with Beverley - and this is purely personal thoughts - i just felt that if Bill had been available at the end of the book she would have prefered to go with him. And to me thats not a basis of a good relationship, i worried for ben thtf after his life long love for Bev she was only with him because she could not be with Bill. i would have prefered for her to come back as a grown up and want ben from the start, but she didn't and thats why i didnt like her.

I do not see Beverly as reprehensible. I think it is just that she had problems of her own. Recall her troubled history. I do believe that she and Ben equal a strong candidate here. (Although I stand by my nomination.) Relationships with no obstacles don't make for very interesting reading.

candy! I had those same thoughts. It upset me, too, because I love kid Bev.

I'm depressed that Larry and Lucy didn't even get seconded. They might not be awesome or dramatic or fabulous, but they are a strong couple. I liked Lucy and wanted to see more of her.
