View Full Version : Most Frightening Published Work--Nominations Closed

Jean
03-03-2010, 12:24 AM
This thread is for members to nominate titles (i.e. books, stories, etc.) for the Award for Most Frightening Published Work. In order for a title to be eligible for nomination it must simply be one of Stephen King's published works, including any of his novels, novellas, and short stories. Titles published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman are also eligible.

To nominate a title for this category, simply post your choice in this thread. In order for a title to be placed onto the voting ballot for the Award the nominated title must be seconded and thirded, also in this thread. This is to ensure that we do not have an overly long list of contenders for the Award, and that--by virtue of the nomination process--each title listed on the ballot is guaranteed to have at least something of a following come voting time. Please note that you MUST clearly state in your post that you are seconding or thirding a nomination for it to count. Feel free to deliberate and discuss your choices in this thread.

While you may second or third a nomination more than once, we ask that there be only one new nomination per member.

Pet Semetary is a great choice!! Another one that I've always thought of as one of King's darker and more horrific (not to mention underrated)would be Gerald's Game, so...

...Gerald's Game.

It and Pet Sematary both creeped me out also. I was much younger when I first read them though so I figured it may have been age that played a factor in that.

I know...So very wrong.

I've seen WAY too many zombie movies o try that shit. And while I'd LOVE to be battling zombies it is not a goal to have to kill zombie friends and family. I mean I guess it's good practice though.

Damn. I totally missed the Gerald's Game nomination. Heartily thirded. That's a for-freaking-real horror story there - especially for anyone who does like to get jiggitywhoop.

TIP: Always have a second key within reach of the sub (on a bracelet or rubber band around the dominant wrist) for emergencies. You can just pretend it isn't accessible.

If this is allowed, I'll second Black House. If not, I'll nominate it.

Also, I'd like to (I guess) seventh Pet Sematary. I read that when I was 8 and it's been one of my very favorites even to this day.

I'll also fourth Gerald's Game. I love that book.

Jean
